The Electricity Academy addresses each student’s individual and educational goals with an intelligently crafted shop environment that integrates project-based hands-on learning with paid co-op work experiences, and a fun, socially enriching atmosphere. Students learn electrical theory and code as it applies to the duties of a licensed electrician. Professionalism is stressed as a significant aspect of earning and maintaining a high-paying career. The technical skills such as electrical wiring, job and shop safety, splicing techniques, device wiring, circuitry and common wiring methods are an essential component of instruction. In addition, students will develop problem solving strategies for troubleshooting and solving wiring problems and will learn to communicate in a manner that is acceptable by industry standards.
Curriculum focuses on a variety of wiring methods (commercial and residential), blueprint reading, electrical code knowledge and calculations, and operating principles of motors, transformers and controlling circuits. Students will earn valuable hours that are required for the Massachusetts State Code exam. Most importantly, students will become a part of the legacy of the MP Electrical Academy and learn to adopt its philosophy of Power, Pride, Respect, into their personal and professional lives.
