Students learn all aspects of working within the plumbing industry by participating in cooperative classroom assignments and extensive hands-on, project-based activities completed in the shop areas. Students are taught to become proficient in the many tasks and skills that are required of today’s apprentice plumber. Students are taught to work safely, collaboratively and efficiently while working with such materials as no-hub cast iron pipe and fittings and with schedule 40 PVC (poly vinyl chloride) DWV (drain, waste and vent) piping projects that incorporate many Plumbing Code requirements that must be met as they complete their assigned projects.
Senior students complete work in our two-story mock residential space where tasks such as fixture installation and common service protocols for lavatories, tubs, showers and kitchen sinks are completed. The Plumbing Program is aligned with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Fuel Gas and Plumbing Code Book and the associated five Tiers of Lesson Plans as adopted and approved by the State Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.
