In the Metal Fabrication & Joining Technologies Program, students learn that welding is an important part of fastening metal components together. Students receive extensive training in the various methods of welding, e.g. oxyacetylene cutting, electric arc, M.I.G. / T.I.G. and hand-held plasma cutting.
Students learn how to measure, cut, and bend metal to blueprint specifications; and how to operate state-of- the-art industry equipment and machinery currently used in the workplace. Students train on equipment such as: brakes, Power Shears, CNC Plasma Cutting, roll forming machines, welders and punches. The skills necessary for laying out and fabricating sheet metal into fittings and architectural pieces for personal use are an important component of the hands-on project based curriculum.
