What is RoxMAPP?

RoxMAPP (Roxbury Massachusetts Advanced Post-Secondary Pathways) at Madison Park Technical Vocational High School is an Early College & Dual Enrollment consortium for rising 10th graders to graduating seniors that prepares and supports students for post-secondary success while in high school. Students enrolled in the RoxMAPP Dual Enrollment/Early College Program will receive the following:

  • FREE college credits, tuition and books while taking classes
  • The opportunity to earn both high school and college credits
  • College & career exploration, while engaging in work-based learning opportunities
  • Experience on a college campus
  • Individualized & group advising
  • Personalized college course selection

What is the RoxMAPP Early College High School?

Designated in April of 2019 as an Early College High School, the RoxMAPP Early College High School (RECHS) is a partnership between Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) and Madison Park Technical Vocational High School (MPTVHS). RECHS provides MPTVHS students with FREE, BHCC transferable college courses. RECHS students are able to start enrolling in BHCC courses as early as the 10th grade. The classes count toward MPTVHS graduation requirements as well as college credit. There is no minimum GPA requirement for entry into the program to ensure that prior performance is not a barrier to future success and to provide options to students for whom the traditional high school experience is not a good fit. Accuplacer test scores also are not a barrier to participation, but are used to determine college course enrollment options and appropriate classes for which a students is eligible. RECHS students have the potential to earn an Associates Degree from Bunker Hill Community College.

What is the RoxMAPP Dual Enrollment Program?

The RoxMAPP Dual Enrollment Program allows MPTVHS students to take college-level classes at one of the RoxMAPP consortium schools: Bunker Hill Community College; Roxbury Community College; Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and Wentworth Institute of Technology. The classes count toward MPTVHS graduation requirements as well as college credit. Students are able to earn up to 15 transferable credits. The primary focus of the program is to develop students to be academically ready and prepare them for college by giving them the opportunity to experience a college level class before they graduate from high school.

What courses will students take while enrolled in the RoxMAPP Programs?

Students are required to take the Accuplacer college placement test. If the student places into college level courses depending the students pathway, the following will occur:

  • RECHS: Students may select introductory college courses in career path “meta-majors,” that align with their MPTVHS Vocational Programs, including Allied Health; Marketing; Design & Visual and Graphic Communications; Culinary & Hospitality; Computer Programming & ISSN.
  • Dual Enrollment Program: Students are enrolled in Mass Transfer College courses. Mass Transfer college courses are transferable, amongst many post-secondary institutions. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 15 college credits while enrolled in the RoxMAPP Dual Enrollment Program.
