The Automotive department meet the skills of the National Automotive Technical Education Foundation. (NATEF) Standards.

In 9th grade, we cover basic knowledge of safety in the workplace, designs of the automobile, fasteners and chemicals. basic tool safety , vehicle service and inspection. We also explain the many different careers available in Automotive Technology.

In 10th grade, we first cover shop safety. Then we learn about hand and power tools, introduction to the engine system, tires and wheels, lubrication system, brake system, suspension and steering. Also we touch base on some safety factors with Electric Vehicles.

In 11th grade, we continue to stress Shop Safety. We then review systems and tools from 9 and 10 grade. From there we move on to fuel and power systems , transmission and differentials, hydraulic brakes and ABS, restraint systems and air bags, computer and diagnostic work. This year is when students do live work in shop, including custom projects and working with electric vehicles.

Shop Safety first. Then review of content from 9th, 10th, and 11th grade. We also add full service shop work, including electrical theory and diagnosis. We also cover electric vehicle safety and live work. 12th graders also learn about engine performance and heating and air conditioning.
